I arrived just before Werk II opened. There weren't too many people around. Even after the doors opened, the crowd was sparse until a few minutes before Schallfaktor took the stage. Suddenly the venue was packed as if a headliner just came on.

Schallfaktor's music isn't revolutionary. The synthlines and growling vocals line up with a lot of pretty generic hard club EBM; however, whoever is behind writing the music knows how to sequence some really catchy songs. Many of the songs off their EP and album are already weekly club hits in many cities.

The singer, Drazen Sucic, was very energetic. He bounced around the smoky stage performing song after song for the dancing masses. The keyboardist was set back and off to the side. That guy did his job to keep the music flowing.

The crowd came to see their new idols and loved them. Almost everyone was dancing or bopping along to the music all the way to the back of the venue. It was impossible to pass five people without hitting a) plastic hair, b) monster fur, c) goggles, d) a facemask/gasmask, e) an eyeball backpack with monster fur, or f) some sort of glow stick/light item that varied in luminosity from subtly dim to turn-the-fucking-spotlight-off-of-your-gasmask. Some people had all of it. I have never been to any event/show where it looked like a total cyber convention. More power to them. I had a good time listening to the music and watching the fashion show all around me.
