I arrived at the venue just as Cervello Elettronico began. David was joined on stage by a guy running additional sounds from a laptop and a drummer (I believe Mike D from the Attic Bits and the Ordnance night in Boston). The song selection was a bit mellow compared to what I remember from the performance at Kinetik 2009. Many of these songs came from "Process Of Elimination", the new darker, noisier, and more contemplative album. This is a departure from the first album, which is a cross between 90s EBM and exciting video game techno music. The addition of a drummer for the set was interesting for most songs. It added a new dimension, but sometimes it did not work as it was improve and the drummer had to guess whether a song was going into a lull or ending. Other than my desire for the set to be a bit dancier and a little less on the live drums, the performance was great.

I do not know what people were thinking when many of them cleared out to smoke and socialize during the lion's share of the Ad·ver·sary set. Having seen performances at various points in the band's career from pre-signing to present, I have had the opportunity to watch his musical talent grow. The blend of soundscapes, samples, and pounding rhythms is simply masterful. Two songs performed that really highlight these aspects were "Ancients" and "No Exit". They, along with the other songs in the set, provided a depth to the music far deeper than previous performances. This is an act which must be seen.

Iszoloscope's sets have been tried and true over the past few years. There has not been a new album in almost five years. The wait is finally over, but the album was not released until a few days after the show in Boston. There were one or two tracks that did not sound familiar, so I am chalking those up to new songs. The set was a solid mix of aggressive powernoise and breakcore, drawing heavily from "The Audient Void" album. It was a rockin' crowd-pleasing set of rhythmic stomping that the audience loved, but it needed to be louder.

The night ended with a taste of Ordnance. Ordnance is a monthly night in Boston that features live drummers performing with DJs and VJs. David from Cervello Elettronico got back on stage with some of the Ordnance members to jam for a bit. It was an entertaining way to end the night.
