The evening began with Xiphoid Dementia (ie. Egan Budd), who was kind enough to organize this event. He used a table of gear and some cinder blocks to create dark ambient noise. The soundscapes took the listeners on a bleak journey through shadowed lands of tortured despair.

Sewer Goddess was the next act. When I saw them for the first time the week prior, I was delighted to see a woman screaming into a mic over harsh power electronics/doom metal. The heavy bass and drums gave shape to the electronic noise and chaos with guttural expulsions by the Sewer Goddess lambasting the surface dwellers for all the crap we put into her domain. Their set was short and harsh.

From abuse from a woman to abuse by men, Bereft delivered angry power electronics. They started with some pure noise before divulging into screaming at and into the audience. There was a little less physical contact between Peter Lee and the crowd at this show, but he made up for it with an extra blast of hate with his aura. Andy Grant (aka The Vomit Arsonist) held his own in the verbal abuse department. If you enjoy being shouted at by angry men while listening to noise, go see them perform. They'll happily focus their ire in your direction.

I went out for a phone call and missed whoever played next. The set lasted for ten full minutes.

For nearly a decade, Steel Hook Prostheses has been a household name for power electronics fans. I was rather amazed to find out they were playing in my town! They perform a combination of dark ambient, noise, and distorted screaming. If there is an insane asylum in hell, Steel Hook would be providing a soundtrack for the damned. Their sound taps into fears of demented nightmares. To hear this performed live was a true gift, even if I probably lost a little bit of sanity.
